Many times we hear that, a person can only be successful if they are working in the area of their interest. Many people find it difficult to find that one thing for which they are really passionate. I also faced the same challenge. To find out what interests me, I can look at my life and see
1. The hobbies and the things I like doing in my spare time.
- What is the thing which I could/would do without any supervision?
3. What is the job for which I could wake up any time of the night and do that happily?
I was always interested in studies. Then with circumstances I landed in a marketing job. I struggled a bit but learnt very important life lessons and understanding of the people. In my marketing job our professional development trainers would always advise that the marketing jobs are the highest paid jobs, which is actually true. So for our professional development, we must try at least one or two years in marketing job. If you find that marketing interests you, you are going to be a very rich person one day. Today is the age of marketing. Even good products and service can't be sold in the absence of good marketing.
Your interest could be dance, music, painting, gymnastic, fishing, hiking, singing, boxing, skydiving, exercising, cooking, driving, yoga, pottery, sculpturing, designing, technology, swimming, drawing, talking, reading, listening, mountaineering, camping, magic, movies, chess, running, gardening, adventure activity, travelling, writing, podcasting, blogging, photography, baking, media, entertainment, games, socializing, meeting people, arts, food, sports, crafting, sewing and many more. All of these can be pursued as a career, but only thing that need to be seen is the interest and passion.
My interest was in reading. This was one thing I could do whole day, whole night without stopping, without any supervision. Then I thought how I can use this hobby for some profession. Teaching looked most appropriate to me as I could share all my knowledge gained from reading. Currently as a Lecturer, I feel I am at the best place. I enjoy my work. I wake up very early sometimes to prepare the lectures, but I love waking up as long as I have to read something. This is my passion. This is my profession. I love it. It is so satisfying and really makes me happy.
